Today we begin our varcode training with Dr. Anita Ghanasah and Dr. Kathryn Tiedje. Dr Kathryn Tiedje is a Research Fellow working in the laboratory of Prof. Karen Day based in the Peter Doherty and Bio21 Institutes at The University of Melbourne, AU. Kathryn is an epidemiologist with expertise in field study design/implementation and genomic epidemiology.
Since 2012, Kathryn has been focused on using the varcode to understand the impact of seasonality and malaria control interventions on the reservoir of asymptomatic Plasmodium falciparum infections in high-transmission settings in Ghana.
In the 2 weeks to come, Anita and Kathryn will take us through a practical overview of the varcode method and protocol as well as journal club discussions relevant to understanding the varcode method and its applications.
